UMass Student Chapter Reactivates
The reactivated University of Massachusetts Student Chapter of INFORMS held its first fall meeting last September, with participation by undergraduate and graduate students from various schools and departments including the Isenberg School of Management, the School of Engineering, the Department of Resource Economics and the Department of Mathematics. The first major activity of the student chapter was a speaker series featuring professors from different UMass departments. Professor Donald Fisher, director of the Human Performance Laboratory, Department of MIE, started the series with a presentation titled "How a Philosopher Became a Psychologist Who Fell in Love with Operations Research."
In addition to this speaker series, the chapter provides students with the possibility to present their research and research interests in an informal setting at biweekly meetings.
