INFORMS Prize Receives Makeover

Key changes are in progress for the INFORMS Prize. Applications for the 2008 INFORMS Prize recognizing outstanding, sustained use of operations research within an organization are now being accepted. The award is presented to an organization that has repeatedly applied the principles of OR/MS in pioneering, varied, novel, impacting and lasting ways. All organizations in the public and private sectors are eligible.
The Professional Recognition Committee, in conjunction with the INFORMS, CPMS and Roundtable Executive Committees, have agreed to institute changes this year, including:
- Presentation of the award will be moved to the Spring Practice Conference at the Edelman Gala.

- Eligibility for more types of organizations, including sustained relationships between vendors/consultants and their client organizations, will be considered.

- Presentations by the winning organization at both the spring and fall INFORMS meetings.

- On-site award presentation by INFORMS executives at the winning organization's offices.
Deadline for applications is Dec. 1, 2007. Further details can be found on the INFORMS Web site under INFORMS Prizes and Awards.
