The Asia-Pacific region is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Western countries are interested in establishing their manufacturing and service industries in the Asia-Pacific region. This has a tremendous impact on the wealth of countries in this region and the nature of the market based on various trade liberalization policies in those countries. It ultimately leads to an open competition where the quality and the cost of goods play a significant role in maintaining the competitive position of the firms. Taking into account the role of quality management in industries of the Asia-Pacific region and their competitiveness in terms of offering quality goods and services, this special issue has been proposed with an objective to gain insights into the quality engineering and management, and future trends of the quality management issues and techniques in the industries of the Asia- Pacific region.
Papers are sought for a special issue on Quality Engineering & Management at Enterprise Level for the Asia-Pacific Journal of Quality Management. Strategic frameworks, empirical research, conceptual and analytical models, and case studies focusing on improving the management of quality in enterprises are specially encouraged. Contributed papers may deal with, but are not limited to: statistical process control, process capability studies, robust design, quality function deployment, policy deployment for quality, fault tree analysis and failure mode effect & criticality analysis (FMECA), computer-aided systems for quality assurance (QA), standards for QA, bench marking strategies for QA, human factors and training strategies for QA, technology management for QA.
Research surveys and application papers in the above areas are also welcome. Four copies of the manuscript should be mailed to one of the guest co-editors by Dec. 31, 1996.
